Happy 2009!

Family

We want to wish all a very happy new year! Our new year festivities were very quiet since we’ve both been ill the last few days, but it didn’t seem to really change the Woerner tradition of dining in and showing off our vocabulary skills. The only difference this year with our new year festivities is that we celebrated it twice!

The stake leadership asked Bryan to record the ball dropping on Times Square, so it could be shown at the youth New Year’s Eve dance. Bryan was able to do so because CNN doesn’t delay their broadcast. Since Bryan and I were watching this, we celebrated the “new year”, even though it was only 9 pm PST.

We then pulled out one of our many word games, Upwords, and challenged each other’s spelling and brain skills. Because we’re both ill, doing this became more difficult over time since we were quite foggy (and became progressively so). Bryan’s best words were “example” (his first word) and “ecru”; mine were “finch” and “awe”. He always seems to win these games, but he is a bit of a word-hound (which I adore about him).

Our game took so long that we were awake long after we expected to be so. We sat down to watch “something” so we could celebrate, but we got distracted instead. We ended up watching “The Late Show with Dave Letterman” and his guest was a female jogger who had recently survived an attack from a rabid fox. We were so engrossed in her story that we missed the big countdown. I’m so glad that we did the countdown at 9 pm!

I do not have time in my life to be reading blogs, but–hey–couldn’t pass up checking in when I was adding your website to my favorites. Enjoyed learning about your holidays, et al. Glad to see that the love abounds in the Woerner family!!!!! We all need reassurance that certain things live on for eternity. Your love is planted firmly on the list.
